CBD is an acronym for Cannabidiol (Can-a-bid-i-ol), a prominent naturally occurring class of molecules called cannabinoids found in the plant genus Cannabis Sativa L. CBD comprises up to 40% of the plant and is one of over 60 plus compounds found in cannabis. Of these compounds, CBD and THC are usually present in the highest concentrations, and are therefore the most recognized and studied. CBD is a non-psychoactive component of the plant that possesses a wide range of benefits and does not cause a high, unlike THC. Because the human body relies on the Endocannabinoid System to maintain homeostasis (balance blood pressure, body temperature...) and naturally uses cannabinoids to maintain a healthful state, incorporating CBD into your health routine can support overall wellbeing.
No. Our Hemp Extract products are made from industrial hemp that has only trace amounts of THC, which are carefully filtered out to further remove any trace of that chemical - so there is no psychoactive effect from taking our products.
CBD oil is derived from cannabis (hemp) plants that have high levels of Cannabidiol (CBD) while having low levels of THC. At Ocanna, our CBD oils always have less than 0.02% THC (the psychoactive "high" chemical). These CBD extracts can then be used in paste form, or mixed with other oils such as hemp seed oil, to lower the viscosity of the extract. The Cannabidiol (CBD) content of most CBD oil products can vary tremendously, since the manufacturers use a varying assortment of cannabis plants and preparation techniques. At Ocanna, we produce CBD oil with a high concentration of CBD that contain only 0.02% THC, one of the lowest levels commercially available.
Our Hemp is organically grown and harvested in Colorado. At Ocanna, we use a solvent-free CO2 extraction method. This allows us to use the natural substance we all breathe - carbon dioxide - to extract the beneficial CBD molecules.
Scientifically, industrial Hemp and Marijuana are the same plant, with a genus and species name of Cannabis Sativa. They have a drastically different genetic profile though. Industrial Hemp is always a strain of Cannabis sativa, while marijuana can be Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, or Cannabis Ruderalis. The major difference is how industrial hemp has been bred compared to a marijuana form of Cannabis Sativa.
Typically speaking, industrial hemp is very fibrous, with long strong stalks, and has few flowering buds, while a marijuana strain of Cannabis Sativa will be smaller, bushier, and full of flowering buds. Still, some newer industrial hemp varieties in the U.S. are being bred to produce more flowers to achieve higher yields of cannabinoids and terpenes, such as the Colorado hemp are products are based on.
Conventionally, marijuana has elevated levels of THC and only a very low amount of CBD. Hemp, on the other hand, naturally almost always has a very high amount of CBD and only trace amounts of THC, which can be filtered out when processing. This makes the cannabinoid profile of hemp ideal for people looking for the health benefits of cannabis without the ‘high.’
Further differentiating the two, hemp is commonly used for making herbal supplements, food, fiber, rope, paper, bricks, oil, natural plastic and much more - whereas marijuana is usually used just recreationally, spiritually, and medicinally. The term cannabis oil can refer to either a marijuana or hemp derived oil, since marijuana and hemp are two different forms of cannabis.
In the U.S., the legal definition of “industrial hemp,” per Section 7606 of the Agricultural Appropriations Act of 2014, is: “INDUSTRIAL HEMP — The term ‘‘industrial hemp’’ means the plant Cannabis Sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration (THC) of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”
There is no need for a prescription or medical card to purchase hemp CBD products. These products contain almost imperceptible levels of THC, the psychoactive "high" compound in marijuana, because they are made from hemp strains of the plant that naturally contain low levels of THC - and high levels of CBD.
With only .02% THC, Ocanna's hemp CBD oil is non-psychoactive and legal in all 50 states. CBD Oil/Hemp Oil and other hemp products are considered to be food-based. As such, there are no restrictions on the production, sale and consumption of hemp oil in the U.S. CBD Oil/Hemp Oil is legal in most countries in the world as long is it contains low or in some countries untraceable concentrations of the molecule THC, like that in Ocanna's products.
For the best shelf life please store in a cool dark area, this will assure there is no loss in potency. Don’t allow to sit in direct sunlight. If properly stored, CBD has around a 1 year shelf life!
The hemp oil in our product contains CBD, which is a legal cannabinoid from hemp. It contains minuscule amounts (parts per billion) of THC that COULD show up in a drug screen. Ocanna cannot guarantee that you will or will not pass a drug screen due to a wide range of variables.
The legal limit for CBD products is less than .3% THC - our products contain only .02%. However, drug screens do vary and some can be more sensitive than others; if you have to take a drug test, it is best to not use any CBD product.
Our Gummies and Tincture Oils are only recommended for internal consumption. If you do not enjoy the flavor of oil supplements, try mixing with something sweet like applesauce or juice, or honey sweetened tea to minimize the flavor. However, for optimum absorption, oils should be taken sublingually and held under the tongue for 60-90 seconds before being swallowed.
You will normally receive your Ocanna product within 3 to 5 business days.
